Congratulations to the winners of the 2010 Calvert County Science Fair. Tyler Grover winning a certificate of excellence for his project Is Wireless Electricity our Future and Kimberly Lopez winning a certificate of merit for Is Bottled Water Better than Tap Water. Both of these students also are winners with the Patuxent Partnership Inc.
The Calvert NJROTC for the second year has qualified for the AREA 5 Drill/Athletic/Academic Championships in Virginia Beach, VA. Only the Top 10 can qualify out of 70 schools, this has been a long season but very rewarding for the team and they have been in the top 10 all year. They have 12 events to get ready for so wish them luck as they have 2 weeks to prepare. Good Luck to all the Cadets.

Calvert Theatre wins 11th consecutive outstanding school award! At the Maryland Theatre Festival this past weekend at Einstein High School, Calvert High School was awarded it's record-setting 11th consecutive Outstanding School Award. No other school in the history of Maryland High School Theatre has come close to the consistency of Calvert High School Theatre. Named Maryland High School Theatre All-State , the highest recognized achievement for a high school theatre student were Nicole Burroughs, Sara Jean Griffin, Amanda Sucher, Robert Draham, Jessie Howell, Stephanie Taubert, Ail Fox, and Jay Sitek. Inducted into the Maryland Theatre Honor Society were Amber Carpenter, Brandon House, Dylan Pauley, Stephanie Compton, Jessie Howell, Kaitlyn Ring, Cheyenne Green, Chris Lange, Jacob Stevenson, Tony Stout, Daniel Theis. Winners in DanceFest were Devin Pappas, Amanda Sucher, Calvert Dance Ensemble. Winners in SceneFest were Hannah Belskie and Dylan Pauley. Winner in Classical Monologue were Sara Jean Griffin. Winners of the Excellence in Acting Award were Izaak Baker and Robert Draham. The following students were semi-finalists in the Scholarship Auditions and received callbacks from the prestigious college theatre programs in attendance at the Festival were Hannah Belskie, Ali Fox, Christian Nicholes, Nicole Burroughs, Cheyenne Green, Dylan Pauley, Robert Draham, Sara Jean Griffin and Jay Sitek. Congratulations to all Calvert Theatre Students.
The NJROTC Air Rifle Team traveled to Camp Perry, Ohio to compete in the Navy Air Rifle National Championships with 25 of the top schools. The competition was a 2 day event, Calvert's first day was rough but rallied the second day with the second highest team score of the day with 2139 points. Calvert finished the day with a 7th place finish in the nation. Michael Trujillo placed 23rd and Ashley Brown placed 25th in the Nation. Congrats to the team on a great season this year!!

Congratulations goes out to all members of Mrs. Stover's Advanced Dance and Dance II Classes for a job well done at the state festival. The dancers had an amazing performance and stood out for their excellent technique during their workshop classes. At the end of the day, there were 25 students chosen to represent the state of Maryland as "All-State" dancers from 26 schools and over 400 students. Jaclyn Baker and Ali MacWilliams received All-State awards and Devin Pappas was awarded an honorable mention. Please congratulate these 3 dancers and the rest of the class today for their hard work and dedication representing Calvert High School.
