Athletic Eligibility Requirements

As written in the 2015 CHS Athletic Handbook

A student absent from school on any day shall not be permitted to participate in practice or competition on that day of absence (exception allowed only if legally absent for a reason other than illness), and, if a game is scheduled on a non-school day, the student must have attended school on the day before the game or have a legal reason for the absence. A “day” means one half of the daily periods. (10:30)

Academic Eligibility

To determine the eligibility status of each student interested in participating in an extracurricular program, the following academic standards should apply:

  • A student must maintain a 70 percent grade point average (GPA), with no more than one grade less than 60 percent. Final grades determine fall eligibility. Quarterly grades determine winter and spring eligibility.
  • An ineligible student may petition for reinstatement on the County interim date of a marking period. Summer school may be used to improve final grades.

For questions regarding CHS’s Sports Eligibility Requirements or any of CHS’s Athletic Programs, please contact Mr. Jason Cranford, CHS Athletic Director at or 443-550-8912.
