SUMMER OPERATIONS INFORMATION
SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION
CALENDAR: The last day of school for Calvert County underclassmen students will now be Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Schools will dismiss 2-hours early on June 11. The school system would have had to use all five days added to the calendar for inclement weather, but the State Superintendent granted a waiver of the two days that were missed because of Hurricane Sandy.
See map below, of the changes being implemented on May 17, 2013.
Please read driving instructions below.

REVISIONS TO CALVERT HS TRAFFIC PATTERN AFTER FRIDAY, MAY 17, 2013
As the Calvert High School construction continues, there will be changes to the traffic pattern as well as affects to driveways and parking lots. Below you will find a description of the adjustments, while on the reverse, you will find a map of the adjustments. Please read these carefully and review them with your entire family.
We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the construction project at Calvert High School as these adjustments are made. Please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Transportation Ed Cassidy at 410-535-7227 or the Acting Principal Kevin Howard at 410-535-7330 with any questions you may have.
______________________________________________________________________
There will be no entrance or exit from Dorsey Rd. to the front parking lot at Calvert High School (CHS). This driveway towards the traffic circle will be closed permanently.
- The loading dock area behind the white fence is off limits to all vehicles. There will be no student drop-off, no student pick-up and no parking in the loading dock area behind the white fence.
- From 7:10 – 7:40AM & 2:20 – 2:50PM only school buses and CHS/CCPS staff will enter and exit CHS from Fox Run Blvd. No students will park in the front parking lot of CHS from May 20 through the last day of the 2013 school year.
- From 7:10 – 7:40AM & 2:20 – 2:50PM all student drop off and all student pick-up in private vehicles will take place in the stadium parking lot. The traffic pattern will be counterclockwise. Drivers should drive in the stadium parking lot and travel straight ahead along the fence line, before turning left and dropping off students at the stadium box office. To ensure a safe and efficient drop off process students should be ready to exit the private vehicles immediately after the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Students should exit from the right hand side of the vehicle and/or walk behind the vehicle whenever possible. Also private vehicle drivers are encouraged to drive single file, and not pass other vehicles in the stadium parking lot area to reduce the risk of accidents.
The bus line-up in the front parking lot of CHS will be rotated 180 degrees, but buses will remain in the same order. Student and staff are reminded to never walk in-between or behind buses when they are in the bus line-up. Pedestrians should walk in front of the bus where the bus driver can see the pedestrians. As a safety reminder, once all bus drivers close their doors in the PM the bus drivers are not to stop the buses and re-open the bus doors, and no one should ever run towards a bus to knock on the door.
If all goes as planned by the opening of the 2014 school year there will be a brand new parking lot off of Dorsey Road which will serve as the CHS visitors parking area during the day. This new parking lot along Dorsey Road will include a “kiss-and-go” area to accommodate student drop-off and pick-ups.
Please exercise caution when driving on all school campuses at all times, but particularly during arrival and dismissal.
